Master's programme in Molecular Biology (General)

120 credits

The general master’s programme in Molecular biology provides you with an opportunity to design your own programme. You choose from around 30 courses at advanced level in molecular biology and plan an individual course of study. Areas included are for example cell- and molecular biology, molecular biotechnology and medical biology. During your studies, you integrate theoretical analysis with strong training of practical skills in our excellent laboratory facilities. Most courses are full-time studies and you usually take only one course at a time. The courses are typically teaching-intensive, with lectures, seminars, laboratory work as well as theoretical and practical exercises. The teachers are active researchers so you will study in close association with vibrant international research environments. After having completed the programme, you are prepared for research or work in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical or food industries, depending on your specialisation.

Special features of the programme:

  • A broad range of courses related to cell and molecular biology, molecular biotechnology and medical biology
  • Close connection to research in an international environment
  • Integration of theoretical analysis with strong training of laboratory skills
  • Freedom to create your own study programme and specialisation

Career prospects

The knowledge and skills you will gain on this programme open doors to employment within many sectors in industry, academia and the public sector. Depending on which specialisation you choose, this could be in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical or food industries. Employment can also be found in agencies concerned with hygiene and environmental protection issues, in patent and legal issues, education or research funding.
